I was wondering the same thing. I am also a massage therapist and although our hands are great now, we really rely on these to get us through. I've heard of soccer players getting their legs insured, but I dunno if we can cuz we are every day hard working people, not professional athletes. There's gotta be something??

You would not necessarily insure your hands, but your occupation as performed with your hands. Find a local agent or broker and ask for a quote on an OWN OCCUPATION, Occupational Disability Income policy. You might also be interested in a Business Overhead Policy if you rent a space in which to perform your massages.

You can insure your hands easily and cheap with individual disability insurance. You may already have a small policy from work, but is that enough? Individual supplemental disability insurance will cover you in case of any illness or injury that will impair you from doing your job. You need to speak to an experienced disability insurance independent agent to help you. LifeGuyDOTcom has an interesting article on this subject. Look it up at LifeGuy.com
