In most situations, yes. Insurance companies want to see the policyholder have an insurable interest in the property they insure. In other words, they want to know you have a financial interest in the vehicle. There are a few insurance companies that will walk a very tight fine line and only allow vehicles registered in your name to be included on your policy, but they are few and far between.
