Another person insurance compamy adjusters were rude un prof

They sent me some papers to fill out and return but I didnt understand the papers so I had been trying to find help so that I can understand what was needed from me. I go to school and I'm a single parent of five so Ihavent had the time I kept in touch with the insurance company letting them know so when I called them to let them no that the papers were going to be sent off they told me take as long as you want cause we closed your claim

They can't "close" your claim. What they really mean, is "holding the file in diary", which means the claim will remain in a closed status until information can be obtained to "re-open" it. I often do hold my files in diary because insureds/claimants either need additional time to complete tasks/paperwork or sometimes they even get lazy (not saying this is your case), I or the adjusters in your case cannot move forward with your claim until they recieve your paperwork. Get your paperwork back to them as soon as possible.

OP..did you find anyone that would help you with the paperwork? I don't blame you for not sending the paperwork if you don't understand what it says. As the above poster says, they will 'reopen' the claim when you send in the paperwork (however..i think you have a 'deadline' to do it).

Is it a release for an injury? I still didn't read in your post how anyone was 'rude' to you...

"Closing" a claim means that the adjuster (insurance company) is no longer going to do anything with the claim until the required information is sent to them. If the claim were active then the adjuster would be required to follow up for this paperwork (sending status letters and making phone calls).

I think there's a 'deadline' (as I posted above) to get claim paperwork into the Insurance companys...however...I'm not sure about this. Can someone clearify this?

The time limit (on a 3rd party claim such as this) would be the Statute of Limitations (at least one year and probably 2-4 years).

Thanks, TCOPE. (Speaking outloud..) There shouldn't be any reason why someone (the insurer) can't get a claim completed within that time.
