| Entire living room ceiling fell down unexpectedly. Took pictures and reported to Travelers. "Structural Engineer" refused claim saying it was normal wear and tear. We found a water spot in corner. Think from roof. What do we do now. It broke couch and shattered coffee tables and other furniture. |

Not much you can do if the cause was wear and tear, which your policy does not cover. What did the engineer's report say? _________________ 65% of the time, it works all the time.

Sounds to me like this was a 'slow deterioration'...losses must be 'sudden and accidental' I KNOW the ceiling appeared to fall 'suddenly', but the cause of it's falling was ??????????? likely a slow water leak that had gone on for years and years...you can appeal, but doubt you have a leg to stand on..now, had there been a horrific storm, a tree limb hit the roof, ripped a hole in it the water poured in and the ceiling fell...yep that's covered. _________________ "Never, never be afraid to do what's right, especially if the well being of a person or animal is at stake. Regarding a falling ceiling.
If the celing fell due to "rumbling trucks" going down your street, such as a garbage truck etc., and if the rumbling and shaking of your house caused the ceiling to fall, then that would be covered by insurance.
ANY noise causing a vibration allowing a shaking of a home, whatever would come loose, would be covered by your homeowners insurance policy. _________________ Register Now to have your Insurance queries solved. |

I do agree.
These are wear & tear problem I suppose.Because no insurnace company will cover the claim if the cause is not accidental or incidental. If the thing is going to happen with number of years of service, & if insurance company pays for it.Then surely they will be out of business because they have to settle all the claims accidental ,incidental & slow deterioration as well.

I hardly see any chances of getting it covered but still you can contact insurance company and fight back if you wish so..
