You need to have insurance on the vehicle the moment its registered and/or driven on public roads.

If you have existing auto insurance, you have either 4 or 14 days to notify your insurer of the additional vehicle (depends on whether you do or don't have collision coverage on any other vehicle). Notifying sooner is always better.

Yes... only in that a couple of states don't require any financial responsibility.
