HOW LONG TAKES FOR INSURANCE TO PAY FOR MY PERSONAL THINGS

COUPLE WEEKS AGO MY DAUGHTER CAME FROM SCHOOL AND SHE FOUND ALL THE APARTMENT WEAK IT WAS FLOODED, THE HOT WATER BROKE AND I CALL THE INSURANCE THEY SAID TO FILE A CLAIM BUT THEY NEVER MENTIONED THE I HAVE TO KEEP ALL MY PERSONAL DAMAGE TO SO THEY CAN SEE IT, SO THE APARMENTS MANGER SEND PEOPLE TWO DAYS AFTER TO TAKE ALL THE DAMAGE THINGS TO THE TRASH I TOOK COUPLE OF PICTURES BUT I WAS TO BUSY, YOU THING THE INSURANCE ITS GOING TO PAY ME FOR ALL MY PERSONAL AND HOW LONG ITS GOING TO TAKE

The apartment complex threw away your personal belongings? If I were them and even if you gave permission, I'd not take that upon myself. It's opening them up to be blamed for a lot of things.

Certainly you need to be able to "prove" that you owed those items and that they were probably damaged. But you may also need to show that those items could not be repaired and had to be replaced.

If your carrier did not tell you this up front then some of the blame may be held against them. But in the end, you need to prove what your loss is. Not that you would do this but people have a tendency to "loose" a lot of stuff they never had. when I get a list of 500 items totaling $30,000 and the person has absolutely nothing to show that these items even every existed I tend to question the person's loss. Might just be me.

It's also odd when a person does not think to keep the items or even take pictures of them. You mention that you took some pictures so that will go a long way.

Insurance companies know it's a tough situation. Most are not going to require proof on every little thing. They are not going to nit pick everything item. Perhaps if a person claims a $5000 LCD TV was damaged by water then they will dive a little deeper into the proof side of the pool.

How long it will take it tough to say. You need to supply all of the info requested by the carrier. At that time, if there are no questions, it might take a week or two to process the claim. Some carriers will send out an initial payment to help the person out. This would be a low amount... an amount that they know for sure is less then they will owe. This helps the person replace items that they need to have right away.
