What coverage does Geico offer with uninsured motorists?

I have geico, liability insurance, with uninsured motorists on the policy. I recently got into an accident where a car cut me off and made me lose control and crash head on into the guard rail. Will GEICO accept my claim under uninsured motorist? Or does it have to be a hit and run for them to accept my claim?
This question has been stressing me out as I have been paying heavy school bills and I borrowed 10k from my father to buy the car which is most probably totalled.
Also, one more question speaking of my car totalling. The car was already a salvage title but Geico did not ask me while insuring me. I paid around 7k for the car and put alloys worth $1000 plus a little modifications here and there. If they do accept my claim how much would they pay me if they deem the car as tottaled.

State law (and the policy) sometimes requires that there be contact between the two vehicles. Sometimes it requires some type of 3rd party confirmation that another vehicle was involved. Basically this is to prevent people from crashing their vehicle into something and getting their injuries paid.

Are you looking at Uninsured Motorist Bodily Injury or Uninsured Motorist Property Damage? UMPD would address damage to your vehicle and most people don't have it. If you have collision coverage this would address the damage to your vehicle as well.

They probably would not have insured it if they new as they are charging you a premium based on it being worth a lot more as they cannot charge less. Expect that they will pay you around 25% less then the value of a non-salvaged vehicle.

Expect that they would pay the market value and consider all covered items. You may want to look at NADA and knock off 25% of the retail value. Though, I think GEICO uses CCC (a 3rd party vendor) for their values. Also, some "modifications" might not be covered under the policy and also don't expect to have the full amount you paid on something considered. It's what those $1000 rims add to the value of the vehicle as a whole (i.e. much less then $1000).

Thanks for the response, can somebody elaborate on the quote:

UMBI pays for medical bills _and_ pain and suffering. So what is to prevent me from smashing my car into a wall, claiming it was a hit and run accident and then collecting $100,000 from me insurance company. In order to prevent this "scam" from happening many states have specific laws that either state a collision needs to happen or that there needs to be some confirmation that a 3rd party was involved. If state law allows for this, then policies will usually also include this language.

one of your clients hit me and caused damage to my car and the occupants in the car were injured. Does your liability insurance cover for payments for my damages, injuries and pain and suffering
