My first car accident, and sadly my fault. There were no witnesses, no cops. The lady policy was expired, but she told me it was taken care of. I agreed to pay the car damages by cheapest amount. Received the estimates by mail, 1000 and up for scratches on the drivers door. but i think that's just too much, so i called her and i asked, could my insurance handle it, since I can't afford that now. she disagree and sends me court papers forcing me to pay out of my own pocket, what to do? _________________ Register Now to have your Insurance queries solved. |

Makes no sense. The other person cannot tell you that you that your insurance can't handle the matter for you. You should have reported it to them and let them handle it when you made up your mind on the matter. Were you legally served those court papers? If so, you need to let your carrier know right now. Report the claim to your carrier and get that paperwork to them now. Unless you were served and there was a court date, the paperwork does not force you to pay anything.
Sounds like this whole ordeal was handled poorly from the start and all the way through. I'd recommend you report it to your carrier to see if you can get this whole mess straightened out. |

| Did you inform your insurance co. about this incident? I'm sure they're aware of the state rules on how to proceed under such circumstances. Once you do, please keep us updated on the same. |
