My car was in a hail storm, my insurer did not total my car

We were in a hail storm last week. we have 5300.00 damage on a 2005 chevy uplander with 112,000 miles. My insurer did not total out our car while all my neigbor's cars have been. Is there a way to get the insurer to go one and total the car? We have to be on the border of the percentage to do so?

Damages vs value. Do all of your neighbors have the same value vehicles? If you don't have a lien, take the money and trade in the vehicle.

You can't get your carrier to simply pay you more money then the claim is worth because you want them to.

Edit: You could tell your adjuster that you plan to file a diminished of value claim after they repair the damages to your vehicle. This might get them to consider it a total loss.

Do you have the same insurance company? Different companies have different guidelines. Insurance Companies base claim payouts on Damages vs. Value of Vehicle. If it will cost less to repair your than to total it out your chances of changing the adjusters mind are minimal.

If i want to file a diminished claim report on my new 2012 mustang after the hail storm- do i file the report before or after my car is fixed?
