Hey guys,

I'm new here it's very nice to meet you all! So I'm here seeking guidance. I was recently (5 months ago) hit by a semi-truck while moving to another state. My vehicle a 2004 impla was totaled 6k in damages, I suffered soft tissue injurys to my shoulder and neck, as well as SI dysfuction and reactive depression. I was hit before reaching my destination of Colorado all of this was in breese ,IL. Total in property damages (stuff in the car) is about 80k maybe a little more.

Here what I want to know. I'm 22 and have never in my life been in this situation, What is a reasonable amount to expect? And is this worth taking to court ?

Reasonable amount... for what?

Injury? No way to tell as there is not enough information.

What I'm concerned with is how you get $80,000 in property into a 2004 Impala. Setting that aside, they owe you actual cash value for your property. This is replacement cost less depreciation. If you own $80,000 in property you should really have it insured. If you have a property policy then it's probably replacement cost. You may want to consider filing under your own policy.

I'd think a commercial truck is going to have hire limits... but do they have $80,000+ in property damage coverage?

I didnt plan on getting in this situation so I didnt think to insure everything or anything for that matter you'd be surprised what you can fit in an 04 impala when you no other options. I'm more concerned with like medical expenses and attorney expenses are they to pay for all that?

See, medical expenses won't be met under property damage coverage. It will either be met by the at-fault party's liability (Bodily Injury) coverage, or through your own PIP coverage.

No one plans on getting into an accident or loosing their stuff. However, people do plan on protecting their own stuff. It's like locking a door.

You pay for your attorneys fees... your attorney will take 33% of your settlement amount (just the injury portion). If you have an attorney that person should be able to give you a good idea as to what the settlement amount will be.
