We should select a policy which is cheap and covers different aspects of liability associated in case of an accident. It is important to understand the significance of car insurance policy.

The car owners should be completely honest when it comes to car insurance queries and investigations. Doing proper research on insurance companies will help you avoid overpaying. Rather going for a cheap insurance that you wants to get, search for an insurance company which can help you to overcome from your problems at a reasonable price. The online searching is the best way to get such insurance quotes.

I wish to address a few of the OP's tips, which apply to car insurance customers in the USA:

1. You definitely pay more paying monthly. The more payments you make, the more installment fees you pay. Also, some car insurance companies offer a sizable discount for paying your policy in full.

2. Many car insurance companies offer a discount for your occupation, but the savings are not worth changing careers. If your occupation does not get a discount, discuss it with your agent, because occupational categories can sometimes be interpreted broadly. You may work in a supermarket at a job without an occupational discount, but if you are also a website designer, that may qualify you for a discount.

3. The day of the month your policy starts does NOT affect the price. However, some insurance companies give you a nice discount if you start your policy a week in advance of the current date. Shop your auto insurance 30 days before your policy renews and have the insurance companies quote you with the effective date the same as your renewal date. Ask when you would need to start the policy to get the future effective date discount, if the insurance company offers one.

This is a misstatement. You cannot start your policy a week before the current date.

There are no companies that I am aware of which would give you any discount for applying for insurance prior to the starting date for the coverage. What's the point? All insurance must be applied for BEFORE the policy effective date. Points 1 and 2 above are reasonable bits of information. Point 3 is nonsense.

Max, I could start an auto insurance policy up to 60 days in advance. In many states, but quite possibly not in California, Allstate & Nationwide have a future effective date discount.

Are you saying all auto insurance policies must start the same day as a customer pays for it? You can't backdate coverage, but you can choose to have the coverage start in at a future date, usually your renewal date.

Max, you show you don't know enough about the national auto insurance market to know what is nonsense, and what is accurate.

Please correct me when I a wrong, but make sure you know what you are talking about before you correct me.

Of course a person can set a future date, and maybe in your state there is a discount for it. But that's not an approved discount in CA. I doubt that "many states" have approved such a discount as you suggest.

Max, i have sold auto insurance in many states, including California (but not recently). California has unique rules regulating auto insurance.

Your "doubt" about this discount being available in many states is speculative, and not based on anything factual, other than your own experience in California. What applies in California for auto insurance is not representative of how auto insurance works in most other states.

I assure you this discount is available in many states.

As experienced as you may be with insurance, everyone's experience is limited. In this case, I am more informed about this matter than you. Stop challenging the information I provide as wrong, unless you have the facts to explain why it is wrong.

You aren't helping anyone, by declaring what I say is nonsense, then admitting I might know what I'm talking about. You can differ with my opinion, without discounting what I say as rubbish.

As a moderator, you should know to be more moderate. :)

There are a number of insurers who will give you a discount for placing your auto coverage with them prior to the renewal date, normally at least a week or so before the renewal.
