I made a claim thinking my car had been in a hit and run, but my brother had used my car and hit a post in our front yard. Minor damage to the car. Easily fixed. I have liability only and know my insurance wouldn't cover it anyway. Will there be a charge against him? I don't want his insurance to go up or a claim to be against him for an accident that can be easily fixed.

I'm not sure what type of "charge" you are thinking of.

So your brother took your vehicle without your knowledge, hit a pole (why?) and then returned the vehicle without tell you he'd be in an accident? So what if he had hit someone one else? You do understand that _you_ would be responsible for his actions, right? Based on his actions in this accident I'd say it's only a matter of time before this situation happens again and most likely it will be much worse. Poles don't just jump out in front of people. Next time you're car will probably be a total loss (and you don't have insurance to cover it) and someone else will probably have suffered property damage and an injury. I think it's time to buy a safe and lock your keys away.

I had asked him the day before to change my oil for me, so since he knew I was going to be at work for 12 hours that day, he came and picked it up and did it for me. I knew there was a chance he would do that, but since I work in a hospital and get little service in areas, I didn't get his voicemail until after I made it home. If he had hit someone else, then I would call my insurance company and further inform them about the incident, as well as the police. He's very responsible. We have t-posts in our yard, it's Texas. The damage was very minor. I have new headlights that I have been meaning to replace, and the passenger side mirror is only a $40 replacement. My car is old, hence the reason I have liability only, but it gets me from point A to point B while I'm in school and saving money for a new car. I made the claim and police report in case somebody were to claim that I had hit them, or anything like that.
