My 17 year old stepson was involved in an accident
He was the passenger in his friends car. An approaching driver fell asleep at the wheel and hit them almost head on. My son was cut from the car and spent 10 hours in surgery for broken femur and tibia in his right leg. He now has 2 steel rods in his leg.
Anyways, when this happened, I was at work and the wife was at home. We hired an attorney and he filed on my PIP coverage of MY ins policy.
The at fault driver had Geico as I did also. When my renewal came up, they doubled my premium. I dropped Geico and went to get a policy elsewhere.
When the new insurance company ran my licence, Geico had ME listed as the driver of one vehicle and AT FAULT. I was 30 miles away.
Is there a reason WHY they listed me as the at fault driver of the vehicle my son was riding in????? Im confused and so is my new insurance agent.

You need to call your GEICO agent at the time and have him/her look into this. If you don't get the answer you are looking for than you need to file a complaint with your states Dept of Ins.

I don't see that this should be coded as you being at fault... it's a PIP claim.

I also have a similar case. My brother was driving my car and got hit head-on by an incoming drunk driver. The damage to my car wasn’t much and I got a check to cover it from my insurance company. He filed suite against the at-fault party and was compensated for his loss and injury. At the end of the month my insurance company sends me a letter stating that my premium rate will be going up effective next month. I called up my insurance company and after looking up my driving record they said that I had been listed as the at-fault party in the accident. How is this possible? Can I do anything about getting that charge off my records?

Read my post above and change "GEICO" to your insurance company's name.
