My fridge did not work after lightning hit my home - my insurance company told me I had coverage but only paid a depreciated amount because they said under replacement cost endorsement it does not pay replacement cost for domestic applicances

Okay... is there a question? Have you read your policy or asked them to point out where your policy states this? No one here knows how your policy reads.

I think part of my question got cut off. My policy states I have replacement cost benefits but they do not apply to domestic appliances, among other things. What is a domestic appliance? My built-in fridge??

Id think your fridge would be a domestic appliance. Does your policy define what a domestic appliance is? If not you could try to argue that its not. Argue that there is no cut off for what is "domestic" and what is not. File a complaint with the states Dept of Ins if its not defined.

Shop for another carrier... I've not seen one that has this limitation.

Yes, that is an unusual exclusion for replacement cost. What's the name of your insurance company, and what state do you live in?

What kind of an HO policy is this? I have seen claims on single slice toasters being honored. This is downright weird
