Cremation/burial/funeral insurance -- the final expense at the end of a person's lifetime.

Final expense insurance is similar to a life insurance policy, only with a lower cash value. It is usually intended to pay for the funeral and burial expenses when the insured person dies. However, the appointed beneficiary may even use the amount for other purposes.

Similar? LOL. It IS life insurance, and nothing else. It does not have lower cash value for any other reason than such a policy (1) has a low face amount, usually $25,000 or less and (2) because it is typically started very late in life, there is little time to accumulate cash value.

Perhaps you meant to say that Final Expense Life Insurance is usually sold to older persons in relatively small face amounts and with comparatively high premiums due to the impending risk of death of these older persons.

A lesser amount of coverage compared to other forms of life insurance, like term and whole, but this can be obtained with fewer hassles. Final expense is a great resort for people who are sick, nearing their end or very old and cannot find reasonably priced life insurance on themselves.
