I presume that you want to know about the SR-22 insurance which is applicable to the high risk drivers. It is essentially a vehicle liability insurance that the states’ Departments of Motor Vehicles ask for, in the United States.

You will need the SR-22 coverage to restore your driving rights if you had met with a car accident, or if you had been guilty of traffic offenses, like a DUI etc. A SR-22 is a Financial Responsibility Certificate, which an individual is required to have for 3 years after an uninsured car accident and 5 years subsequent to a DUI conviction.

The coverage for SR-22 varies from state to state. The minimum liability coverage for is usually $10,000 for property damage, $15,000 for bodily injury and $30,000 for each accident.

In some states like Virginia, Florida etc, you’ll need to have an FR 44 instead of an SR-22, if you have a DUI or DWI violation on your driving records. However, it is not much different from SR-22. You’ll only need to maintain more than the minimum amount than the state requirements.
