I am supposed to apply for a certain amount of jobs a week in order to receive unemployment benefits,but the doctor says that I can't work and don't know when I will be able to again.can I still receive unemployment benefits with this problem? I support three children with no income and can't find any answers

Why not call the unemployment office and ask? Tell them you might have required surgery but this means you won't be able to work. Ask them if you go through with it, if you can still collect Unemployment.
Or you can always simply still apply and "convince" anyone who calls that they probably don't want to hire you (for example, let them know you are going to require months off work each year, etc.)
