Is my agent responislbe?

I bought an auto policy thru an agent. I paid the premium to the agent in full. During the term I called the agent to drop a vehicle/file change of address. The agent did not inform me of an increase in premium. I assumed it would be lower as I dropped 1 car. I then had an accident. The insurance company says they canceled the policy for lack of $68. They say they sent 2 notices. I didn't receive them. When I contacted my agent, she was unaware of the cancelation. Do I have recourse?

You can ask the carrier for proof of Mailing. You can always file a complaint with your states Dept Of Insurance. I doubt you would get anywhere if they had a good Proof of Mailing. odd how people never get these cancellation notices right before an accident.

You can always sue the agent and the insurance company, but you're the one who has to prove they did something wrong. One of the questions you would have to answer is, "What did you do to verify that your requested change took place?" Answer . . . ?
