My daughter was not included in the policy by the broker/agency where i got my car insurance. We reported to the agent that we had two daughters, 1 with a driver permit, 1 with a driver license. We needed them cover they often go to amusement parks, and the one with the driver permit was getting ready to get her license.
Unfortunately my daughter (w/ the license) was in a car accident and it was her fault. The ins denied the claim because she was not written in- at first they said that if she was not excluded she HAD to be written in. The broker sold us a household policy- she admitted this and acknowledge it. Broker agency initially said they would cover if ins did not. Now neither of them is covering. What can I do?

A "household" policy? What is this?

Did you give all of your daughters information to the agent? How long ago was she supposed to be added onto the policy?

It is your responsibility to verify your coverage and report any inaccuracies to the insurance company. Failure to do so can be considered misrepresentation or concealment and permit the insurance company to avoid the claim. All it takes is a 5 minute phone call to the toll-free contact number for the insurance company.

Having said that, if you communicated 100% the correct information to the agent and the agent neglected to pass that information to the insurance company, you have a claim against the agent for 100% of your losses.
