My dad received a call from an individual yesterday, asking for insurance details. They said he was in accident around 1 month back. Dad is refusing, and we know he's a good driver. I'm worried it might be a scam.

Your father should know if he was in an accident. If he was not, then I'd certainly not give out any info. I'd also ask the other person how they got his info. If they were in an accident with him and had enough info to track him down then they should at least know his vehicle and tag info. If they cannot provide this info, then certainly its a scam.

Have your father contact his own carrier to see if anybody has made a claim, it could be a scam or it might just be mistaken identity. Dont disclose any pedigree information (i.e. name, birthdate, address, social security no, etc) to any source that you do not know
