my son has his own car in nh dont drive mine but my insurance company is trying to add him to my coverage

My guess is that his address is showing the same as yours. Speak to your agent and see if they will accept proof that he's not living with you.

he does live with me but he owns his own car and does not drive my car he does not have his own insurance yet but does not drive my car at all

So... your son drives without insurance. But he's honest enough to abide by your rules and won't drive your vehicle.

As the only responsible adult in the household, you should do one of three things:

(A) add your son to your insurance and make him pay the additional premium. If he refuses, then you have the remaining two options . . .

(B) give him 24 hours to obtain his own insurance or move out.

(C) throw all his stuff into the front yard and change your locks.

You are doing him no favors by allowing him to live in your home (probably rent free, with full access to the contents of the refrigerator, and free maid and laundry service), and putting the public at risk of being involved in a collision with an irresponsible, uninsured adult. Let me guess . . . he's currently unemployed and unwilling to work at McDonalds or some other fast food joint.

You are even putting yourself at possible risk of a lawsuit if he actually does take your car out for a spin because his tank is on "E".
