The insurer is askng for a in-person recorded statement after my vehicle was smashed on the road? Should I go for the EUO or seek legal help?

What are you concerned about? Just tell them the truth and be done with it. Unless you're planning to commit insurance fraud, you have nothing to worry about.

Examination Under Oath is nothing but an investigation tool used by the insurer to substantiate your claim. You can hire counsel if you want to.

An EUO may not be an "in person recorded interview". For one, an EUO is "recorded" via stenographer and it's usually (almost always) done by an attorney. An EUO can last a hour.. it can last 4 hours. An in person recorded statement is usually done by an adjuster and is the same as over the phone.

An insurance company typically obtains recorded statements. If they are asking for an EUO then they suspect fraud of some kind.

You can always obtain the services of an attorney. That is your right. They cost around $150-$200/hour or they take 33% of your settlement.
