How do I respond to a request for payment from subrogation?

I received a letter from a subrogation company representing my neighbor's auto insurer. They are requesting payment for damage done to my neighbor's car. My neighbor claims my dog scratched his car. I have spoken with both companies and I have not received any proof of my neighbor's claim. He even told me he did not see it happen. The neighbor also has two large dogs that run free. I do not feel that I am liable for the damage. Should I respond to this letter? If so, how do I respond?

There are many things you can do... you can address your defense yourself or, if you have home owners or renters insurance you can turn it over to them to address your defense.

I can't see the subrogation company ever proving their case. Unfortunately some like to file suit anyway. You could also always wait to see if they do file suit and then turn it over to your carrier to defend you. It should be simple enough.

In the meantime, enjoy life. It's too short not to have fun, and too long to be miserable.
