Insurance reimbursement question

by ajmcello » Thu Jan 24, 2013 10:20 pm

I was involved in an auto accident which resulted in being hospitalized. I am now being billed by the hospital.

Rather than having Geico, the insurance company pay the hospital direct, is it possible for Geico to pay or reimburse the policy holder instead of the hospital or medical provider?

Thank you.

Sounds like this is a PIP or Med Pay claim. If so, the insurance company has statutory requirements to pay the medical bills. So they will pay the provider direct.

The hospital bills the individual at first. You must not have provided insurance information initially. It's not that difficult to transfer the obligation to your insurer later on, and that's what you should do. The bills will be paid directly to the hospital or provider only.
