My policy is up for renewal and insurer is asking me to list my daughter under the existing policy. She hasn't got her permit even, but will soon be going for it. I thought of waiting for the next renewal or maybe the one after that. Can insurer force me regarding this?

List her as what... a driver? So they would be charging a premium for no risk? They can feel free to have wording on your application that any/all licensed drivers need to be listed on the policy and then when you don't add her and she has that accident, they can simply rescind the policy (refund your premiums and cancel the policy as never enforce) and leave you holding the bag.

She doesn't drive, doesn't have license, even doesn't have a permit. Why will she even need insurance?? She's not a driver - doesn't need to be listed, simple.

It is common for insurance companies to ask for the names of children age 13 and older. Not so they will be added as an insured now, but so the insurance company can inquire as to their license status beginning at about age 15-1/2.

If your daughter is of legal driving age, but does not have a learner's permit or driver license, she does not have to be included in the list of named insureds. Failure to add her when she does have either of those will cause her not to be covered.
