Do i need to list myself under dad's policy?

Dad is an occasional driver due to old age. I have started using the car for personal use. I have got my own vehicle as well. In case of damage, will his insurer deny coverage?

You never mention where insurance comes into play. That is... who has insurance and who has insurance on you?

If he has insurance and you are not listed, they would probably (they may not) pay the claim but then they would either require you be listed on his policy or they would non-renew the policy. Insurance company are funny in that they like to collect money for accepting risk.

I got my own auto policy with a separate insurer, and am not listed under my dad's. We don't even share the same residence. I thought since I live separately and have my own policy, I don't need to listed under his. I don't even use his car every single day. Only when I visit him on weekends, assist him in shopping, drop him off to medical center and all. Will my insurance come into play here by any chance?

As an occasional driver of your father's car, you are covered under the terms of your own policy as secondary coverage. Dad's policy will provide primary coverage.
