I am 25, on my parents policy, and over the weekend I received a DUI. I know my insurance rates will sky rocket but will it also affect theirs as well? If so I will instruct them to immediately drop me and remove my vehicle before I go to court next month.

Your insurance? I thought you were covered under your parents policy. If you are all under one policy and it's your parents policy then yes... of course _their_ premium may increase as it's the only premium that exists.

There is a good possibility that their carrier will refuse to renew the policy if you are living in the household. Some carriers may allow you to be excluded instead but most won't. This may force them to go with another carrier that will write the risk but they will charge a much higher rate.

It won't matter if you remove yourself from the policy now or later. The results will be the same.

You could always pay big bucks to an attorney to try and get your offense reduced to something else or fight the charge and hope for an acquittal.
