What if I hit a post to save a street dog?

Yesterday, while I was driving in downtown Chicago, a street dog suddenly came before my car as it was running like a freak. As I tried to save it, I hit a post nearby. I’ve both collision and comprehensive with Allstate. Now my question is under which should I file my claim? Thanks.

Unfortunately it's a cruel rule but if you didn't hit the dog but the post instead. It will fall under a collision claim, which makes it your fault. I've seen claims like this come across my desk many times and it always falls that way. Sorry.

I have to agree with Linkmeb it is a At Fault loss you swerved to one collision just to cause another you really dont have the option of comp or collision loss your claims adjuster will tell you what it is
