Adjuster attempting to lower an offer that was already made

I had a motorcycle accident that totaled my motorcycle.

I was initially offered a settlement, with an official letter stating the insurance company, insured person's information, my information, a statement that I was retaining the vehicle, the offer price, and the signature of the adjuster making the offer.

Today I received an email from the adjuster stating she had miscalculated the offer price and that it is lower (~$1000 less) if I want to retain the vehicle.

She made the initial offer with the understanding I would be retaining the vehicle, and that is clearly stated in the offer letter.

She has not sent me anything official with regard to a second offer. I would like to know if the initial offer is legally binding considering it has everything clearly spelled out I am keeping the motorcycle and the offer price along with the adjuster's information and signature.

I am about to submit the documents she had requested with the initial offer (notarized acceptance of the offer, copy of driver's license and title) and any advice on this matter will be helpful.

Thank you

If you in any way doubt the amount of your settlement, contact the insurance company claims department directly, not the adjuster, and request a current settlement offer letter.

Tell them you are considering accepting their offer, but you received conflicting information from the adjuster and cannot commit to an offer that is in doubt and may not be correct. Do not accept a verbal commitment over the phone. You must have it in writing. They can email, fax, or send by snailmail.
