i was waiting at a red light the car behind me tried changing lanes and hit me tipped the car over. his insurance company totaled the car. it is a 2005 suzuki but 2 years ago i have new motor, radiator, tune up new wires, reservoir, new tires, new gasket (if that is what it is called) I went get it back and had it repaired, but for them to reimburse me they want the title. why do I have to send them title of the car

They deemed it a total loss and as such are required to send the title to the state and have it changed to a salvage title. This may lead to issues when you attempt to renew the registration at some point. You may need to take the vehicle to the DMV and have it inspected for them to make sure its safe to operate on the roads.
The insurance company usually withholds around 20% of the payment until they get the title.
