Hi friends,
Just the other day I came across a new term, “SR – 22 Insurance.” What is that? Can someone pls explain it to me?

Hi,
SR22 is a certificate that must be filed by the insurer directly to the Secretary of State, clearly mentioning that the auto liability insurance is in effect for a said individual. In case someone is not able to bring forth a financial responsibility when he/she is involved in an accident or a traffic offense, this is mandatory when the insurance is given.
Thanks,

It is very difficult to come up with a specific answer for ur query as SR-22 insurance is differently used in different states. When ur drivers license has been revoked or suspended this motor vehicle liability insurance policy helps you to get it reinstated. Hi guys,
Is there a time frame for which one has to carry a SR22 insurance…..??

Yeah there is a time limit. One often needs to carry SR-22 insurance for around three years as per the laws of most of the states. This is after your suspension or revocation has come to an end.
Thanks, Sasha T.
Hi guys,
Make sure that you do your research work before going for SR-22 insurance. The reason I say this is that not all the insurance companies offer this type of an insurance policy. The companies specializing in high risk drivers might just be helpful in this case.
Before you think of getting your license reinstated make sure that you provide a proof of SR 22 insurance to the dept. of motor vehicles. In some states they require you to submit a SR-22 binder but I have seen that some other states provide a SR-22 form that one can use as a replacement for the real insurance binder. Also remember that its not always true that some states use SR-22 strictly in DUI cases.
Hope the input helped.
Take care,
Evan
