Does anyone have any experience with companies that are more likely to issue a policy?

This stems from an article I read today about insurance and HIV - and how HIV in some arenas is being viewed as common as High Cholesterol, BP or obesity... but in others it's causing denials - or HUGE premium increases.

Just wanted everyone's opinion and experience on this - if any.

Thanks!

post shifted to the right forum, thanks

So far I think, HIV should not be related to the Life Insurance. Rather, disability insurance is much more relevant to the persons infected/affected with HIV/AIDS. Because the chance to get being disabled by that disease is more prone. And the earning capacity reduces as the immunity power goes down. The first line and the second line drugs provides some sort of resistance for few years (food habits and the way of living should be good enough).

I dont know the companies in US, but here in India there is no policies as such for the infected/affected persons. The problem is that a database problem for the no. of patients, lack of awareness, fear of society and so on. At present almost 6 million people are infected with this disease in India (approx).

There is no good medical reason to bar people with HIV/Aids from taking out life insurance.
A study finds people successfully treated for HIV have similar death rates to those successfully treated for cancer. Many insurance companies do not offer people with HIV/Aids life insurance because of their high risk of death.
But ther are special conditions under which Life nsurance can be considered permissible for HIV patients. The insurance market is always adapting as new information becomes available and in response to medical evidence. So as medical field progresses in this area, this issue can be resovled.. Even if there are some reseaches that yield fruitful results in terms of life expectancy trends of HIV patients ( who are medicated with special doses) These results would also prompt Insurance COmpanies to revive theri rules...
