You can't fit an entire story into one sentence, so I'm just going out on a limb here. Most likely the driver will get in trouble for damaging your car and not reporting it, which is a criminal offense.

In terms of insurance, it depends on things like, where you were parked, if you were legally parked, how big the car is, visibility of the car etc etc etc...

If you were legally parked, then the odds are good that the driver is at fault. If you were both driving around, then it gets a bit more complicated, give us some details, the more we have, the better.

The party that caused the damage. Who else do you think would be responsible?

Thats the thing tcope, if Nazy here was double-parked or had the car jutting out too much, then the other driver wouldn't be as fault because the car was incorrectly, and dangerously parked.

Just because you cause the damage doesn't mean that you will be held responsible.

In a perfect world Quenlin, but

a car hit my car and runaway.

so I will assume the driver hit it, was unwitnessed and left, with the op discovering the damage when she returned to the car...lots of guessing on this one!

OP if this is the case, and you have collision coverage on your vehicle your insurance will fix your vehicle minus your deductible...these types of claims happens hundreds/thousands of times a day, and the other party is never heard from or found...

They are responsible, but so what? if you don't know who they are can't track them, then you are responsible for the repairing of your vehicle if you want it repaired...sucks, but again happens all the time..

Quenlin you make some valid points that the op could have some comparative negligence if they were parked illegally etc...but based on the limited information....i'd go with tcopes response as well.....
