Hi ya'll. Been a while, since I've been on this forum. Wanna say 'hello' and would like to ask if anyone has any good suggestions about Health, Dental, and Life insurance. I live in the state of Pennsylvania. Thanks.

I am looking for affordable health care for me and my daughter. I heard of Benefits by Design, Inc. and was wondering if anybody knew about their business. I have done some research on my own; i know what i want, i know what i can afford etc etc. i just need help finding that ever elusive perfect plan. :) If anybody has had any experience with BBDi PLEASE let me know.

I am a single mother with a BA and work full time for a small entrepreneurial company. With the current economic status our company has hit hard times and can no longer afford to cover part of our premiums each month. We had 2 options: cover 100% of the premium ourselves (possibly switching to a different plan w/ lower premiums) or drop from insurance. I was willing to switch to plan that had a higher deductible but a smaller premium that i could afford each month, however the group i was in decided not to go that way. I was out-voted on how to handle the situation and got left w/ no insurance.

Insurance for myself would be amazing but i am more worried about my daughter being covered. While i hold no ill will toward state funded insurance programs (my daughter was on healthwave the first 4 years of her life), i really dont want to go back. I was spoiled with the ability to choose practically any doctor anywhere; have the comfort in knowing that if my child got sick on a saturday i could take her to immediate care (not the er) fork over my copay and deal with the bill later. State-funded health care is 100% upfront. I dont make that kind of money. And i dont care what people say, the minute you utter the words "healthwave" (or your local state funded program) you get treated like you are a horrible, irresponsible parent.

So if anybody has any info about Benefits by Design inc or any other companies that could possibly be helpful please let me know.

Thanks in advance.

Sami...where are you located? It's best to pick a LOCAL experienced broker. I'll be happy to try to locate one for you.

I'm sure that there are many seasoned agents available in your area, you only have to approach them with your requirements. They would be glad to help you and like Ohio has said you can take his help as well in finding an agent.

BTW, Ohio, what would you suggest to a consumer to look for in a plan while shopping for coverage?

Hi guest..

As you probably know, purchasing a health plan is an important decision and commands proper education, attention and time.

I agree. But then with some of us it's pretty tough to set the priorities regarding insurance. Some of us would just go so high on cost of other things that we're left with nothing to feed for health care.

It's absolutely fine that we'd be asked about our insurance goals. But I'm interested to know more about the percentage of prospects that tell you truths regarding pending medical visits or tests. How do you verify them!

I would consider Golden Rule - UHC. You might consider buying term life outside of your policy in case you cancel your health coverage for some reason.

Golden Rule? Can you tell me a bit about it, please? Can you get this ONLY in certain states? I'm looking for a 'secondary' Life Insurance..kind of thing, right now.

Hi Sami!

If it's the same BBD I heard about, then they should be fine if you don't mind working with someone located in Canada.

A better option would be to find a local Health Ins agent in KS. They would be able to answer more specific questions and even work with your budget so that perhaps you could have some coverage too.

You can start doing "homework" for the different health plans online. A lot of good companies were given earlier in this same thread that would apply to your question too.
