I am a US based artist doing freelance work for an Australian company. I signed a contract with them, and now that it is time to renew the contract, they are requiring 'Public Liability Insurance' for $1 mil. Now I am just one person working from my apartment, so I'm not sure I can afford this. But my main problem is, I don't even know how to purchase this insurance, since I'm not sure the terms 'translate', so to speak. What would PLI be in the US, and where can I find an agent?
how about asking the representative with whom you are working to help you finding the required coverage? _________________ Register Now to have your Insurance queries solved.
I could see what PLI stands for through your definition & also could understand its importance in today's life. But I don't see its connection with the nature of business that is being conducted by the employer of hamlette, especially when the guy says-

He is not even using their premises while at work, then why does he require this insurance? Please show me a good reason. Insworldocom _________________ Register Now to have your Insurance queries solved.
Sure, and you can also ask the local agent about the coverage.
Whenever you are running a business you are required to take out the liability policy to keep yourself covered from the claims arising from the third party.
I'm sure that the premium level will depend upon the nature of the business. Hence, don't forget to do comparison shopping before buying one. _________________ Register Now to have your Insurance queries solved.

I'm not sure what the job or contract calls for. I'm not saying I understand what he would need it either. But the question was, what is is and where can I find it.
Many companies require that they be listed as an additional insured under a contractors policy for liability reasons. I'm not sure if the OP is working in some way on another person's property or something else that might expose the owner to liability as a result of the OP's actions.
