Funny thing about smoking. It's nasty. It's disgusting. It's a waste of time. It will kill you.

BUT...If you have NO OTHER HEALTH ISSUES, Aetna does not raise your rate a penny (health coverage).

I use Aetna quite a bit in Western Pennsylvania. Solid rates, although as of April 1, rates heading up a bit.

Its a three prng attack on smokers. Increase the taxes you pay on cigarettes to help pay for health care of minors, Increase your insurance premiums to help pay for your eventual increased medical issues, and Increased legislation limiting where you can smoke.

Glad I haven't had a cigarette since November 1st. Cigarette smoking just keeps getting more expensive and you have a harder time finding a place to smoke when you do go out to drink with a designated driver of course.

Sometimes I look back at my younger years and think I was really stupid. I remember driving 110mph down the interstate smoking a cigarette, talking on the cell phone and drinking a cola at the same time. Now adays I don't speed (at least as bad maybe 10mph over the speed limit if I am feeling lucky normally within 5 mph of the speed limit), and dont smoke. I still talk on the cell phone but try to use the hands free when I do and prefer to actually not talk on the cell phone, and I try to only drink something when I am at a complete stop.

To quit smoking you got lots of different ways.
For psychological therapy they could be refering to hypnosis.
Maybe the water therapy is the little water inhaler things that you can add to your cigarette to filter it.

I used a fake cigarette looking thing, and tasted pretty nasty too, but it was useful for my sucking habit and eventually it went away.

Sugar and fat free candy are also good to suck on that way you still have something in your mouth and you wont gain weight from stuffing your face with high fat items.

YEARS ago, I did quit. I quit for three years. Why did I start again? The 'crowd', that I hung out with, smoked. My parents smoked for 40 years and quit. Wish I COULD quit.

I don't think that you can be unbalanced to such an extent. Had the crowd been antisocial...would you have turned out to an antisocial?

Lol Smile i pity you...
Smoking is Dangerous...
and to quit smoking you need to decide on your mind that you shall not take another puff hereafter.

You would only have to quit smoking because it harm you as well as others....You do not have any right to harm others....

So this is the platform that helps you in taking a big decision of your life...
Lemme know that you are an individual whose mind rules over his heart....and not the other way round.

So, start and take up the decision..now that you shall not smoke any more

And let the community know that you have left it... Very Happy

Stopped smoking for 2 years.

Gained 45 pounds, so had to buy all new clothes.

Rotted all my teeth with peppermint candy, over $6,000 in dental bills.

But I felt good!! Laughing

There are companies now offering life insurance at "Non-Smoker" rates for "Smokers".

What's with that?

Hey Maze!

Some insurance companies are charging high rates from smokers. Such companies believe that the smokers are more risky to deal with. They have more possibility to make claims than the others.

The article on How does smoking affect your insurance ? would surely address your question.
