our mom just died and one of my sisters and myself cannot find out who the benificery is our other sisters are trying to get everything property leftover life insurance policys and we cant find out anything

I'm no expert, but I know that when my friend's mom died last year, someone contacted her as well as her out-of-state siblings to tell them they were named the beneficiaries. I'm not sure if that's how it always works, but I would imagine that's what would happen.
First of all Ron, I'm sorry that you have lost your Mama, secondly I'm sorry one sister is being greedy...

Sister cannot get the life ins policy money unless she is the only named beneficary..the insurance company will contact all beneficarys once a claim is filed, she also cannot file a claim without a certified death certificate...do you know which company it might be with? if so you certainly could call them...Personally I would tell 'other' sister, that we are having a meeting and going over EVERYTHING, and deciding how things will be split up...TOGETHER! If she balks I'd say, "Fine, 'nice' sister and I will get a probate attorney and this will drag out until our great grandkids are in college! and the attorneys will eat up anything there is! Now, how about we behave like grown ups, and not fight like little kids...don't you think mom would be ashamed of the way you are behaving?" another thing too is, did mom (or dad) have a will? could be that this will have to go thru probate... _________________ Have you been helped by a poster?
