Can Aetna cancel my health insurance policy if I'm diagnosed

I'm going for a biopsy tomorrow and was wondering if my health insurance can just decided to cancel my policy?

no-not if you already have the policy prior to diagnosis, and did not know of your condition when you completed the application...and did not lie on the application...it further could depend on the type of policy and how long you have had it.

One of the things you are paying for when you have long term health insurance is the right to renew it even if you have medical issues.

This is one of the reasons that short-term coverage is so inexpensive.

As a general rule, you insurance company cannot cancel your policy unless they cancel all policies in your geographic area (usually your state).

This is subject to the issues that Lori mentioned. A policy can be rescinded if you lied on the application so long as they catch the lie in the first 2 years.

However, things can be a bit different if you've just applied for it and already knew about this biopsy during your application process. It would certainly signify a lie!
