| When a person applies for personal health insurance in the state of California, is it possible to be turned down if you are a smoker? Also, do they require blood and urine tests? Would they turn you down if you smoked for awhile, but quit? |

Each carrier has their own underwriting rules. You may not be turned down if you smoke, but I would guess your rates would certainly be higher, and with good cause. NEVER lie about it, they most certainly can request whatever tests they'd like in their application process. _________________ "Never, never be afraid to do what's right, especially if the well being of a person or animal is at stake.
