Not to sound patronizing, but you're referring to "Travel ACCIDENT Insurance."
A heart attack is not an accident...it's an illness and would not likely be covered by this contract.

Hey, suppose I'd suffer a cardiac arrest when the radio contact gets lost within an aircraft and the passengers start to panic, wouldn't that be covered under travel accident insurance? Or do I need any other type of coverage for that?

Nice try...it's still a heart attack, and not covered under a travel accident policy. You need a plain old life insurance policy!

| A travel accident insurance is somewhat like a combination of health and life insurance. No heart attacks, rather they'd cover you for the injuries or death if an accident occurs while traveling. |

Medical evacuation could be an added advantage with some of the travel accident insurance policies. Suppose you become sick while on a visit to a remote place where there are no medical aids, it would be an emergency requirement to get you shifted to a place where you may avail immediate medical attention and care. This benefit is offered by some of the travel accident policies and helps you to get transported to the proper place in time.

Medical evacuation is certainly a great benefit. I've heard that some of the travel accident policies would also allow one of the insured's family members to be brought in under such circumstances. If the insured succumbs to death while traveling, his remains could probably be sent back and the expenses shared under the same coverage. Roddick |

It also offers a lost luggage replacement benefit. In case your luggage gets lost (or for that matter stolen), it reimburses you with a fixed amount.

Accidental death is only one benefit of a travel accident policy. Other benefits may include evacuation, ambulance, emergency room, and limited medical payments for accidental injuries. There may also be benefits for loss of limbs or eyesight.
