I became disabled after a massive injury during my work. Since then I am getting the disability from an insurance company and still I am unable to do any job. In this circumstances would I qualify for unemployment benefit while receiving the disabilities?

You are likely to get the unemployment benefit along with the disabilities. You are receiving disabilities not because of your fault and this happens in your workplace right. If you are looking for some job that you can do , then you are eligible for UI benefits. Before that you just go through the state's policies whether the income from disabilities offsets the UI benefits or not.

Hmmmmm, just having some message board fun here by going to the very last thread just to see what it says:

In this circumstances would I qualify for unemployment benefit while receiving the disabilities?

No.

Unemployment Benefits and Worker's Compensation are two different things and they both would not pay at the same time.

You're disabled from your employment due to an injury.

You didn't get terminated or layed off.

Sorry, but this comment:

You are likely to get the unemployment benefit along with the disabilities.

Is NOT correct.

When you apply for unemployment benefits and when you do your claim every two weeks one of the first questions on that form is "Are you able and available to work?" You have to check yes or no. Well you would definatley not be able to work so this automatically disqualifies you for the benefits. Your employer pays for you to have unemployment benefits and Workers comp. Would kind of be like paying you twice...

Fire, that was my first thought, you have to be 'employable' to collect unemployment...and you are not.

Not just that they take any wages into consideration. Id you make x amount of dollars and it is more than 40% of your unemployment benefit you will either not get benefits for that two weeks or they will take adeduction. Believe me I did seasonal work for 6 years March-November and worked part time in the winter at Fashion Bug (One jo b was a very clean one and the other mud from head to toe!).
