IMO most of us stammer while speaking in front of a gathering because we become very self conscious. The art of public speaking can be mastered by constant practice.

  • Make a note of the points that you may wish to discuss with your audience.

  • Rehearse as many times you need before facing your audience.

For a novice the famous book on public speaking by Dale Carnegie would be worth while. It covers all the aspects that could make on a natural and excellent public speaker.

Hello,

I would greatly recommend Toastmasters International for anyone who wants to learn how to speak better in public. The best way to learn is to do it. There are clubs throughout the country and there may or may not be one close to you. The people I have met are pretty friendly and helpful. There is help for people with ahs, ums, other things they need improvement on. I would highly and greatly recommend it to anyone who wants to join one. The website is www.toastmasters.org. It is nowhere near as expensive as Dale Carnegie classes in public speaking. Toastmasters is inexpensive. Check it out!

To make the work in an intelligent manner, you have to limit the amount of information that you'll be sharing.
