In the State of Texas, when a physician is treating a person whose been in an auto accident, if they file health insurance are they still required to take the in network provider discount they would take if they were treating this patient under a different circumstance? Or are they entitled to full fees regardless of where the payments come from?

I believe if your medical bills are being paid through your auto med pay they actually end up getting paid less. I was in an accident a couple years ago and was worried about the mounting medical bills. I was told not to worry about it because only a percentage is paid. My auto med benefits did go a long way and I had extensive injuries. An expert here can probaly give you a more detailed answer but this is what I was told.

If you are using your health insurance and the doctor has a contract with that insurance company, then yes the doctor would have to accept the discounted amount from the insurance company no matter if it is accident related or not. (As long as it was a covered service.)
