Lack of Contact from Adjuster....

I was involved in an auto accident (hit head on) in early January, the other person was at fault. The properity damage (vehicle totaled, clothing, etc.) was settled in a somewhat timely manner.

Since then, I have had very little contact with the adjuster (Nationwide Commercial). He was complaining of not being able to get copies of my medical records in March, so I got copies of all the medical billing and lost wage info and faxed to him, but he said that wasn't good enough, he needed the "originals" directly from the medical providers. Since then, I have not heard from him.

Is this a normal timeframe? Is this some sort of tactic to "minimize" the claim? Should I follow up with the state insurance commisioner? His supervisor?

Medical treatment was completed by the end of February, so I would think 60 days would have been plenty to gather info and make an offer on a bodily injury claim.

What do you think??

That would be gross, plus overtime, and yes, I documented lost overtime with 3 weeks of paystubs and a letter from my employer.

In my part of the world we pay net NOT gross...so this may be another 'oversight'

Not questioning overtime (even with the letter from the employer. :o

Paying you gross.

Take the offer and run. :D

My point exactly Das... on top of the other mistake...soon as a supervisor sees it and if she rejects the offer...then next one is gonna be less not more !

"Take the offer and run???"

"next one is gonna be less"???

Am I missing something? Gross is before taxes, right? Net is after taxes, right?

How much of a difference are we talking here? Taxes on $5800 in wages would be about $1400 at the most! I'm thinking there's more than that left on the table.

What's the deal with overtime? I work ALOT of it, I can document it for several past years, it wasn't just available, it was manditory while I was off work due to my injury. What is there to question?

Feel like I'm missing something...

Our point is that we've never seen gross income paid, they should be paying your net...if they discover this error before you get this claim settled they can reduce it...

Have you made sure that 5k is indeed the total amount of your med bills?

A little off-topic, postee, but if you're talking about Medicaid benefits for nursing home care and whatnot, Google "look back rule." As I recall, the period was extended from 3 to 5 years in 2006.
