if you have a ticket for driving without insurance....best advice......get a local lawyer....who can try to get you a driving without the insurance card.....i have seen a poor sap.....who plead guilty for driving without insurance.....he got 6 months suspended license........later another man with,,, a lawyer.... same court same day.....the lawyer said the mans wife.....made a mistake when mailing the premium.....it was reduced....to having no card....most courts are crowded.....and all they want is your money......worth the try....good luck....

MOST Insurance Co's will take a payment right over the phone. ..Debit, CC, check by phone, etc. THAT way you KNOW you won't have the hassle of wondering whether you have the payment in or not. (Just some 'future' advice)..LOL

I've looked all over the web for an answer for this question. Maybe someone here can help me. My son got laid off last March and was re-hired in August 2009. In August he again began contributing weekly to his insurance. health and dental. He went to the Dr. in Nov and they said he had no insurance. My son went to his human resources dept. and they told him there was a mistake and re-instated his insurance.... for NOVEMBER 1st not AUGUST 1st and didn't re-instate his dental at all. So he put money into insurance since August and he was laid off end of December. He asked HR about the money he paid into his insurance and they said they would try to backdate the insurance to August. Well, he never needed the insurance at all except that one visit in November and they did re-imburse him for that. So my son has been waiting to hear from them and they said they are still working on it. He says he just wants his money back from August to Nov. Does anyone know if a Health Insurance Company can backdate insurance (Blue Cross Blue Shield) and if so, what is the sense in sending them money now---no claims were filed so they would just get the money in their pocket instead of my sons? HR wants him to sign all kinds of stuff alleviating their position in this matter if they send him a check. HELP anyone!

I can understand them saying (basically) it's either or...in otherwords, he paid for the coverage, so he would be reinstated for the ENTIRE time, or none at all...is that what they are saying?

Yeah, this sounds pretty fishy to me..I'm going to send ins. teacher a note to drop in on this thread..it's right up his alley...just hang on a mite..

He paid for the premiums and should have been covered from his hire date till his termination date. Once it was fixed, it seems like someone made a mistake as far as the effective date of the coverage. Since he didn't need or use the coverage from August to November doesn't really matter since he would have had coverage since he was paying for it.

Look at it this way: If he would have gone to the doctor in August and the claim got denied for no coverage....they would have fixed it and the claim would have been paid. He can't ask for money back now for insurance that would have covered him if he needed it.

I understand the confusion, but really he owed the money and unless I'm missing something he shouldn't get it back. Insurance - one of those things you pay for but don't really see tangible benefits unless it is used....but those benefits are really there.

As Dasfuk says, even if you do not file a claim, you will have to pay for the coverage. I do not think either that there is any chance of getting back the amount from the insurance company.
