Hi, for all Californians it is important to know that the time you apply for a driver's license you're actually conveying your 'implied consent' to get you medically tested under circumstances that you get convicted of DUI.

Your driving privileges would be called-off if you don't undergo this test with the DMV. But if such a conviction comes your way later on you're bound to face a jail-term, a severe penalty, meet more stringent DUI criteria etc.

On the other hand if you undergo this test & show up 0.08% blood alcohol concentration or more then also your license would be terminated. Under such circumstances you might appeal for a DMV hearing to remove this suspension. This would hold good for 30 days but it would be re-imposed in case you lose grounds at the court of law. Wish all Californians would follow the legal rules religiously!

Along with the price increase of all the household commodities, the auto insurance costs too are rising quite steeply. Californians are already one of the highest price payers for the auto insurance in the nation, and hence are going to experience even severe pocket pinch towards maintaining their coverages.

The California state law requires the drivers to maintain at least the minimum level of liability coverage on their car, in order to retain their driving privilege in the state. Hence, if don't have an asset to protect against the lawsuits, that may arise in case of a third-party liability, you can purchase only the minimum state requirement and lower the cost on your auto policy.

Quite so and the new regulations, brought in by the Consumer Federation of California, will increase the prices of the policies even more. However, one of the insurance giants of USA, Mercury General Corp., recently has announced price cuts for their Californian auto and home insurance consumers. It certainly will bring some relief to many of their policy holders.

California has the nations most strictly regulated insurance business, aimed at protecting the consumer's interest against the discriminatory practices of the insurance providers, but still the rates in this area, are higher than the rest of the nation.

Hope that the step taken by Mercury will inspire the other to review their rates too, and if this happen then it'll certainly act positively for the customers.

The California Low Cost Automobile Insurance Program (CLCAIP) offers insurance coverage at low cost. However, to avail this program you're required to meet the criteria based on the household income, value of the vehicle and driving record.

The California legislation has passed a law that defines the 'good driver'. According to the definition the good driver should have the driving license for three years with no-more that one point in his/her record.

The good driver, however, will enjoy around 20% discount on the premium rate.

Wow, there must be a world of difference between California Auto Insurance and Ontario Auto Insurance! $15,000 is the minimum liability? What am I missing? In Ontario the minimum is $200,000 and I always recommend $2,000,000 liability.
