I am trying to find out if it is safe for me to change doctors at this point. Was involved in an accident on July 2007 and since have moved. Now my family doc is almost an hour away and I want to go to one closer. (just 3 min up the road).
They attys have already sent the other ins. company a demand letter (yes still waiting) and forwarded to them all my records. Plus my family doc turned my injuries and care over to a pain management facility that I still go to often.
I can't see why sonce they are no longer caring for my injuries (fam. doc) why I couldn't go ahead and switch.

I seriously think that you need to discuss the matter with your attorney. He/she will be able to guide you properly. IMO the other party's insurer needs to be informed if you are planning to switch the doctor.

i agree with the poster, check with your lawyer first, just to avoid any unpleasant surprises.

I called and they said to go ahead. Apparently they have all the documentation from them that they need and any new info would come from the pain clinic doctors since they are hadling my injuries now. Thanks.

I would think that with everything documented in your records, it wouldn't be a problem.

Yes and its all well documented so I am going to switch this week. I will have my records forwared to the new doctor so they are aware of my on going struggle with my arm and have the records for their use. Thanks for getting back to me.
