OK...what you need to do is shop around. As far as dropping costs...you could increase your comp and collision deductibles or if the car is over ten years we discuss dropping comp and collision because the depreciation of the car has dropped far enough to not make it worth carrying. I would not touch your liability limits as you need to keep them at a decent level to cover any issues.

There are many other things that you might be able to do but to suggest the right thing we would need to know the state you live, driving record, get an insurance score, etc. My best advice. SHOP!

Hey life...your one past just made my mouth drop to the floor...What is this about RED vehicles...just great my dodge dakota quad cab is red?????I never relized that color made d ifference?!?!? I mean why red? At least you could see it coming a mile ahead. I have heard that red vehicles get pulled over by the police twice as often as any other but I always thought that was a myth. I can not wait to see the reasoning on this one.

It is a myth. There are rumblings that red and even black(hard to see at night) are high risk but if you have a red dodge dakota ram that wouldn't be an issue. Even if you have a red hyundai tiburon you are paying the same a a green one. It completely depends upon who you talk to to get the real answer. As an agent...I don't care what color the car is when we quote or bind the policy. And for that matter...on the application we don't ask. If your application for insurance asks you the color of your vehicle, then you ran into a company that takes that into consideration.

Sorry to ruin the fun Life but you have no idea how many people actually believe that. You should see the rates on the fire orange cars...man are they expensive. And if you have a spoiler on the back...wow.

I hear it all the time. Even have people ask me, after I quote them, "You don't need to know the color of my car?"

I do tell people that the color of the car won't affect premium, but if you stand out in a crowd, your call will be noticed quicker - which could result in...how you say...increased scrutiny...lol.

Oh...and what color is your car - insurance companies are notorious for sticking it to people with red cars.

Dang it Life, now we're gonna be answering that question for weeks! NO PEOPLE THE COLOR OF YOUR VEHICLE DOES NOT (read my fingers) DOES NOT HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH YOUR RATES! He was making a joke...well trying to anyway...

That said they 'should' charge a little higher premium on tri-stage vehicles...but they don't ...

Comparison shopping until you drop. A single policy differs by as much as $600 between companies. Therefore, each driver needs to find out which company is offering the lowest price to them. Make sure you are getting the lowest price of that $600 difference can be the difference in $50 or more per month. Each companies has different formulas on calculating auto insurance cost, some of the companies look more into driving history, others use credit history and some may look more at the vehicle and coverage options. In all, there are hundreds of factors that insurance companies look at to figure out a quote and what is cheapest for me, probably will not be for you. Consider taking a defensive driving safety course or traffic school to save up to 10% more and seek discounts you qualify for that you may not be getting. Look for websites and research different discounts and mention them to your auto insurance company or agent.

When you start calling different companies to get a quote, please make sure give each company the EXACT same information and ask them to quote the EXACT same coverages.

Too many companies will quote you bare minimum just to get your business.

Hi,
In case your car is affiliated to a particular organization, you may get a discount while signing up for insurance. Such discounts could come through an affiliation with credit unions or could even come to you if you hold a specific credit card. You'd surely come to know more about such organizations enlisted with your carrier by calling up their customer service dept. Purpleheaded08
