Hi there,
I shipped my car to the Big Island with Young Brothers. (I sent there because I had it sold) Well, I went to pick it up but was damaged so I couldn't sale it. Then I was told to take the car out to some body shops to get two estimates, I turned the estimates in then waited for a couple weeks, no response so I start to call them, finally they went to inspect the car (I wasn't there). They deduct couple things from the estimate & they were going to pay me, them they called back & told that they have to make the check out to my name & the body shop name.
Facts:

1- They damaged my car!
2- I don't live in that island to deal with the body shop (I live in Oahu).
3- I was trying to speed up the process so I took the car to any body shop for estimates.
4- I lost the opportunity to sale this car

Aon Benfield

this sounds like an agent not a company...are you sure this is the actual carriers name? cause I find no licensing information on that name...double check there should be an insurance company name, like 'gieco', progressive, all state etc.

FK,

Well, I'm sure that even though the shipping company is self insured they can't violate the norms of business set by the Department of Insurance. Am I not right guys?

Ever talk to an agent. There are a lot out there that don't know the difference between a homeowner's policy and a dwelling policy let alone the rule of law. Before I get jumped on.....NOT ALL AGENTS, but they are out there.

Another thought that just hit me, if some of the damage on the OP's estimate is assumed and not confirmed, I could see them not paying for assumed damage for a cash out settlement.

I know what you mean....some simply don't like their jobs and operate only perfunctorily and, therefore, is the lack of knowledge.

oh geeeze...the ones that try to confirm or deny coverage are my personal favorites, and nearly get the company to the court house!
