Dispute on Totaled value of Toyota corolla

by msvarghese » Mon Aug 04, 2008 09:47 pm

My 1997 Toyota Corolla was in an accident recently in the Omaha, NE area (68128) and Progressive (my insurance company) "totaled" the car at $2, 520, which is far less than KBB value. This value supposedly includes all fees & taxes, and is still subject to my $250 deductible. This car has current KBB value of $3700.
We bought this car 2 years back from a local dealer for $4250 and in a months' time we had to spent $1750 for changing the transmission belt. I spent a lot on this car and finally according to Insurance people its valued only $2520.According to claim representative, this was totaled before as well which is an unknown fact to us. We had clean title from dealer and even Car fax didn't show that it was totaled. The surprising thing is that Progressive offered insurance quote based on a clean title. I don't know how would they change their records to double-totaled now when we are at receiving end.
We talked to the local dealer and he is still saying that our car was of clean title. At the same time, Progressive is going to send us report which shows it was salvaged. I do not know where to proceed further. I spent around $6000 on that car (excluding taxes) and the totaled value of $2520 can no way compensate that.
Please let me know how I can proceed further...or which is the best way to get the things cleared...

Thanks!

Oh Mikey, Mikey, Mikey, from,

I never said I would completely leave,

to

Maybe I did say I would leave, so what.

I dont care if you post a hundred times a day here, don't mean a thing to me...it's just more of your inability to tell the truth....

Are you afraid of people challenging your distortions or opinions

Clearly not...of course not...opinions are just that opinions...one of my biggests problem with you is when you (constantly) state your opinions as fact...which they are not...although it irritates you to no end when the world doesn't see it as such...I have no problem with someone challenging my opinion on any topic, if they can do it intellectually and without making things up! No distortions in this old girls head, I assure you....that is more than likely your biggest issue with me in fact...I can see you VERY clearly....

You remind me of those people that wait for someone to leave a room so you can begin assasinating their character.

Why don't you show me the threads where this happened Mike...You've huffed and puffed, and folded your arms and stomp off, more times than I can count...I don't recall any discussion about you after you've 'left for the final time'....

You should get out of the everyday claims business and get into csi work perhaps. You missed your true calling maybe.

Maybe but not CSI too much chemistry, not my bag...maybe private eye though...

Right same article I read....don't hear the fat lady singing yet though

Well, there you go again!

If you don't care then stop the incessant verbal chatter and negatism.

If you can't drive away or silence the voice of opinion or opposition and truth you simply call them a liar and start with character attacks. Really Lori, I am not going to be drug down to a gutter level with you to debate a nattering nabob of negatism, sorry to disappoint you.

I am here because some posters simply do not agree with you and have asked for my opinion. I won't be here often, just enough to answer posters questions that I, as a repair expert, can assist them with.

I looked this up in Webster and still can't find the definition, you're gonna have to help me with this one...

negatism

The word you've entered isn't in the dictionary.

, I know what 'natter' means, still can't find negatism, and 'nabob' means

1 : a provincial governor of the Mogul empire in India
2 : a person of great wealth or prominence

Since I'm certainly not of great wealth or prominence (but thanks anyway)...and certainly (last time I checked) not a provincial governor of the Mogul empire, and never been to India, again, you're gonna have to help me out with those insults...cause I don't get it... :?

I am here because some posters simply do not agree with you and have asked for my opinion. I won't be here often, just enough to answer posters questions that I, as a repair expert, can assist them with.

Again, I have no problem with anyone disagreeing with me...I question whether or not anyone actually solicits you, (in fact received a pm myself asking why you were contacting them without their request  )....but hey whatever trips your trigger big fella....

Highly unlikely unless his name was Tran.

I've read a couple of post reply by some really knowledgeable people, namely ‘Lori', 'nique1221', 'Mike of Ozarks' and I think ‘tscope'? (sorry if I excluded any body else) any input from yall would be deeply appreciated.

I have only pm'd one person that said he had read some of my posts and had questions and I answered him offline simply because I warned him my posting would bring out the nattering nabobs of negativism. Not negatism as I previously spelled, but then Lori, never mis spells right? Lets not play that childish game shall we not?

More disinformation from Lori, designed to discredit and distort the issues.

You used the wrong dictionary
negatism
Retarded way of saying negativity

Nabob

Stands for Not a bad older broad
A older woman who still looks good.

I think Mike likes you

Retard? Rick did you go to the same adjuster training program as others that resort to namecalling in these forums? I think you missed this one. I am surprised Lori did since she is from the generation from which it originated. You are probably just a little wet behind the ears and have a desire to get off the porch and run with the big dogs, since you were perhaps in diapers when this reference was made originally, eh?

My personal definition is someone who chatters or natters incessantly about things they can not control such as the media or the public perception so they hurl distortions designed to deflect the truth.

Nattering nabobs of negativism" is one of the most popular turns of phrase associated with U.S. Vice President Spiro T. Agnew, who served under Richard Nixon until resigning in October 1974, after pleading no contest to charges of tax fraud. Agnew, who had a particularly acrimonious relationship with the press, used this term to refer to the members of the media, whom he also deemed "an effete corps of impudent snobs."

According to the Congressional Record, this term was first used during Agnew's address to the California Republican state convention in San Diego on September 11, 1970. In context, it was used together with another well-known Agnew alliteration: "In the United States today, we have more than our share of the nattering nabobs of negativism. They have formed their own 4-H Club -- the "hopeless, hysterical hypochondriacs of history."

Although this phrase is often credited to Agnew himself, it was actually written by William Safire, the legendary columnist for The New York Times, who was a speechwriter for Richard Nixon and Spiro Agnew. Some of Agnew's other pearls were actually written by Patrick Buchanan, another White House speechwriter at the time.

But seriously, as much as I disagree and I am on the opposite side of the fence with regard to insurer, collision shop, vehicle owner issues with Lori and others, and look at it from over three decades of experience dealing with all the issues from my perspective of repairer ownership experience, I do not hate any posters that I have strong disagreements with but I can and will dish it back out just as fast as it's dished to me without any anger or hate. (Sarcastically maybe) I just wish others could. I could still sit down and have a cup of coffee with Lori even if the feelings weren't mutual.

Nope I am a victim not an adjuster.

You left off the ED to make it retardED . No one called you a name, I wrote what the definition was according to an urban dictinary. Get you grandkids to show you how to use the internet.

Agnew was forced to resign , after a Justice Dept. investigation uncovered evidence of corruption during his years in Maryland politics; he was said to have continued to accept bribes while Vice President.
I dont think it adds to you credability quoting a liar and a theif, who worked for a theif and a liar.

You are probably just a little wet behind the ears and have a desire to get off the porch and run with the big dogs, since you were perhaps in diapers when this reference was made originally, eh?

Do you know me? Why the personal attack?
I did not refer to you as an overbearing pampas inbreed mountain man who has out lived his usefulness and longs for the days when people listened to him but now counts the days until he too will need to wear diapers as he can no longer trust his bowels. The only joy you get is belittling a person that is attempting to shed a little light into a world few people know anything about. Do I 100% agree with every word Lori writes? No. Do I trust most of the information she provides? Yes. Do I appreciate her help? 100% yes.

Even your avatar looks shady and not trustworthy.

Agnew resign on Oct. 10, 1973 and was sentenced to three years' probation and fined $10,000, and was disbarred in 1974 in Maryland.

I know it is hard for you old folks to keep the 70's straight.

Back on the porch pooch.

Your implication I believe, was that my spelling was a retarded effort which would have been made by a retarded person. No points to you for using a birth defect slur. Your youth and inexperience is showing.

I believed you lobbed the first stone, but thank you for the history lesson not sure I saw the relevence to the discussion. Did your mom make you watch the Nixon history channel or did you actually google something all on your own. Now grasshopper, here's your gold star, go stand in the corner and put your nose in the circle on the blackboard for being a bad boy.

You sir are an insolent git.

I did not express nor imply a thing. I gave the definition as it appears in the dictionary. You may want to call Medicare and get those glasses swapped out for a newer, stronger prescription. Or set you font to large in Internet Explorer. But neither of those will assist you it comprehending a 1st grade statement as simple as “according to urbandictionary .com negatism is Retarded way of saying negativity.”

Now go potty before you get in bed . Your sister/wife doesnt like to change the sheets every morning because you cant hold your water. 1 more time and it is the night time depends for you.

I will save you the trouble of looking it up

Insolent =impudent: marked by casual disrespect; a flip answer to serious question.
Git =A completely ignorant, childish person with no manners. A person who feels justified in their callow behaviour. a person that is useless, troublesome or annoying, a fool.
